From Dinosaurs to Diplomacy: Exploring History, Innovation, and Unity

From prehistorical dinosaur fossils to more contemporary conflicts like the Cold War and the Anglo-Boer War.

• Caves for hiding from the enemy, blockhouses, places of surrenders, monuments, and the resilient machinery of the steam-powered age offer a portal into a time of transformative innovation.

• We visit Destiny Castle and Union House, the only house to be burnt down twice, once by the Boers and once by the British! In 1879, President Brand of the Orange Free State planted two oak trees on the front lawns to represent unity between the Brits and the Boers, which trees are still standing today. In 1910, the Union of South Africa was signed under these very Oak trees.

“We took 20 students in 2022 and the students loved every minute of the tour. My students gained first-hand, practical experiences which reinforced knowledge, skills and concepts explored in the classroom. They now possess a more enquiring geographical mindset leading to higher-order thinking and learning.

”“Many students never have the opportunity to travel on a sport or school tour. This tour caters for all students as it is the geography visit to explore an unfamiliar location that is the memorable learning experience.”
